Indonesia is ready to hold the 2023 UCI Track Nations Cup championship at the Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta, which falls on February 23-26, 2023. It is the start of qualifying for the bicycle race for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The eyes of the world will look at Indonesia

Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC) Chairperson, Raya Sapta Oktohari said that Indonesia could make the most of the 2023 UCI Track Nation Cup event. It was also to show if Indonesia has the best world-class velodrome.

“There is only one velodrome like this in the world. This is our diplomatic value that we have the best velodrome during the tournament. The eyes of the world will look at Indonesia and we must maintain the good name of our country," he expressed, Monday (2/13).

He explained that it would improve Indonesia's experience as an organizer of prestigious cycling tournaments. Previously, the Rawamangun Velodrome had been used as the venue for the Asian Games, Asian Para Games, and Asian Championship.

"There have been three major events at the velodrome and this velodrome will be opened for the world level in 15 days for the first time. The world champions will be here to experience the best velodrome in the world," he explained.

Jakarta ISSI Chairperson who also serves as Chairman of the 2023 UCI Track Nations Cup Organizing Committee, Novian Herbowo expressed more than 500 athletes from 41 countries would compete in the event.

"Preparations have gone smoothly so far and Insya Allah (God Willing) will be opened by PB ISSI Chairman, Listyo Sigit Prabowo," he added.

Indonesian Team Cycling Race Manager, Budi Saputra hoped that his athletes could make the most of the UCI Track Nation Cup.
